Success in Your Professional Life is Much Like Success in Life - It's Largely in Your Head

I was reminded of a famous Dylan Thomas piece of prose by someone on Facebook:

‎"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

I first saw this piece many, many moons ago - and it touched me deeply.

One could say it's been a cornerstone tenet of my life and career.

I've always treated each day as if it was my last, and sought to make the most of it.

Self-motivation is the strongest tool we have at our disposal. With it, we can overcome countless internally and externally imposed obstacles.

I could die tomorrow and say that I've had a rich and rewarding life.. but the future looks even brighter.
My head swims with thoughts on what I want to do next.

I'm like the proverbial Coyote howling at the Moon.

Care to join me in a good howl?

ACT LIKE A HOST Not Like a Guest

Dr. Adele Scheele

 wrote a best selling book a couple decades back that has been inspiring and helping high achievers for years now.    Her first book, done as a result of the PhD studies in Organizational Development and Change Management,  is called Skills For Success.

There were many tips and resources plus stories of successful leaders and even new college grads, but the one piece of advice that I have always remembered was her encouraging people to "Act like a host, NOT like a guest" if you want to get ahead in your career.
